Glamping in the heart of the Cape Winelands
Set beneath the historic Bainskloof Pass, at the foot of the Groenberg Mountain Range, AfriCamps at Doolhof offers a boutique glamping experience surrounded by mountains, vineyards and the flowing Kromme River.
Located on the award-winning Doolhof Wine Estate in Wellington’s Bovlei Valley, it was the first dedicated glamping destination in the Cape Winelands and is only a short drive from town and approximately 50 minutes from Cape Town.

AfriCamps at Doolhof is home to 16 fully equipped safari-style tents.
Six tents open onto a peaceful meadow beside the Kromme River, while ten hillside tents look out across the surrounding mountains and vineyards.
Whichever setting you choose, every tent includes its own private outdoor wood-fired hot tub – the perfect place to slow down and take in the Winelands views.
Everything you need to settle in
Each tent sleeps up to five guests and includes two separate bedrooms with two extra-length queen-size beds and a single bunk bed.
Inside, guests will find an en-suite bathroom with a rain shower, a fully equipped kitchen, an indoor fireplace, air-conditioning and electric blankets for cooler evenings.
Large sliding doors open onto a spacious deck with braai facilities and a private wood-fired hot tub, giving you plenty of room to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
Wi-Fi, secure parking, generator backup and an on-site shop are also available.
A working wine estate with a story
Doolhof is a working wine estate of approximately 380 hectares. Its name means “labyrinth” – a fitting tribute to the folds, pathways and hidden corners of the valley.
The estate’s story stretches back to 1709, with vines first planted by Huguenot settlers in 1728. Doolhof was formally recognised as a wine estate in 2005.
Today, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay grow on the cooler eastern slopes of the Groenberg, alongside red varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Merlot, Pinotage and Shiraz.
Every AfriCamps stay includes a complimentary tasting of five Doolhof wines.
Explore Doolhof
There is plenty to experience without leaving the estate.
Follow the vineyard trail or take a shorter walk along the Kromme River. Explore the mountain-bike routes, visit the tasting room, enjoy a meal at Mila Restaurant or cool off beside the river at the private Doolhof Beach.
Guests can also enjoy the swimming pool, wander through the small labyrinth near the farm entrance or simply spend the afternoon relaxing in their hot tub.
Breakfast baskets, braai baskets, picnic baskets, firewood, additional cleaning and private in-tent spa treatments can be arranged in advance.

Good to know
Check-in is from 14:00 to 17:00, and check-out is before 10:00. Guests are asked to share their estimated arrival time in advance.
Doolhof is situated at the end of the Bovlei Valley and is reached via a section of gravel road. Vehicles with higher clearance may offer a more comfortable drive.
